Job Description

Summary Lakewood Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to lead our 7th Grade Boys Basketball program. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, a passion for teaching young athletes, and the ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment. This position involves coaching, mentoring, and developing student-athletes both on and off the court. Responsibilities Develop and implement practice plans that enhance players' skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Conduct regular team practices and drills, ensuring all players receive adequate instruction and support. Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and hard work. Enforce school policies and regulations regarding student conduct and safety during practices and games. Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on team activities, expectations, and player development. Requirements Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or youth level. Strong knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young athletes and their families. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). A high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field is preferred.
