The Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing the Whittemore-Prescott Girls Basketball Program. The Head Coach will provide leadership for the varsity team while working collaboratively with middle school, and other basketball coaches to develop a successful, positive, and unified program. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, organization, basketball knowledge, and a commitment to the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes. The Head Coach is expected to serve as a positive representative of Whittemore-Prescott Area Schools and promote sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, discipline, and respect. Responsibilities Program Leadership Lead and oversee the overall girls basketball program. Establish a positive program culture based on teamwork, accountability, respect, discipline, and sportsmanship. Develop and communicate a clear vision and expectations for the basketball program. Build and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents/guardians, school staff, administration, and the community. Promote participation and continued interest in girls basketball at all levels. Coaching Responsibilities Plan and conduct organized practices that appropriately develop individual and team skills. Prepare the team for regular-season competition and MHSAA postseason competition. Develop game plans and make appropriate in-game decisions. Establish appropriate team rules, expectations, and consequences in coordination with school policies. Maintain appropriate supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests. Complete required MHSAA, school, and athletic department forms and requirements. Maintain professional and timely communication with student-athletes and parents/guardians. Qualifications Ability to attend practices, contests, meetings, and other required program activities. CPR/AED and First Aid certification or willing to obtain. CAP certified or willing to obtain.
