Head Women's Wrestling Coach

First Flight High School — Dare County Schools

First Flight High School is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and student-centered Head Women's Wrestling Coach to lead and grow our women's wrestling program. The ideal candidate will be committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the mat while building a positive, competitive, and inclusive program.

Position Responsibilities

Serve as the head coach and provide leadership for the FFHS Women's Wrestling program.

Develop and implement a comprehensive wrestling program focused on skill development, conditioning, competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Teach fundamental and advanced wrestling techniques appropriate for student-athletes at varying levels of experience.

Plan and conduct daily practices, conditioning sessions, competitions, and team activities.

Develop a culture built on discipline, accountability, effort, respect, and pride.

Promote academic success and ensure student-athletes understand that academics come first.

Recruit and encourage students to participate in women's wrestling and work to build a strong, sustainable program.

Monitor student-athlete eligibility, attendance, academic progress, behavior, and overall well-being.

Maintain a safe and positive environment that follows all school, district, North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA), and wrestling safety policies.

Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents/guardians, school administration, athletic staff, and opposing coaches.

Organize team schedules, transportation needs, equipment, uniforms, and other program logistics in coordination with the athletic department.

Maintain accurate records related to the program and ensure required athletic forms and documentation are completed.

Attend required coaches' meetings, professional development, athletic events, and school functions.

Represent First Flight High School and Dare County Schools in a professional manner at all times.

Work collaboratively with the athletic department and other coaches to support the overall athletic program.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Principal.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.

Previous wrestling coaching and/or competitive wrestling experience preferred.

Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, rules, conditioning, and safety.

Ability to develop positive relationships with high school students.

Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Commitment to developing a competitive program while prioritizing student-athlete safety and well-being.

Ability to work flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and travel for athletic competitions.

Must meet all NCHSAA, Dare County Schools, and First Flight High School coaching requirements.
