Head Coach, Womens Flag Football
Job Description
Position summary Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in Benedictine tradition, is seeking a full-time, year-round Head Women's Flag Football Coach. Reporting to the Deputy Athletic Director for External Relations, the Head Women's Flag Football Coach will establish and lead Saint Anselm College's women's flag football program. The coach will build a program that supports the College's Catholic, Benedictine mission and provides student-athletes with a strong academic, personal, and athletic experience. The first-year priority is recruiting an inaugural roster of at least 15-20 enrolled student-athletes for fall 2027. The coach will also develop the program's culture, prepare for its first season, and work with Athletics leadership on a competition schedule and operating budget for separate approval. As the program becomes established, the coach will assume the full range of head coaching responsibilities and may receive additional Athletics Department duties beginning in year two. First-year recruiting responsibilities Develop a written recruiting plan within 30 days of hire. The plan will identify target schools and events, a travel and outreach calendar, coordination with Admissions, and a prospect pipeline designed to support the 15-20 player roster goal. Focus in-person recruiting on New Hampshire and Massachusetts, including Greater Boston, the North Shore, and the Merrimack Valley. Make targeted visits to Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York when the number of prospects and quality of an event justify the travel. Recruit in other markets through video and remote outreach, with additional travel subject to approval. Build relationships with high school, club, NFL FLAG, and community coaches. Identify prospective students Coordinate approved campus visits and prospect events with Admissions and other College offices. Maintain accurate recruiting records. Provide the Deputy Director of Athletics and Admissions with a monthly report showing qualified prospects, applications, admits, deposits, enrolled students, and projected roster composition. Review progress and adjust the recruiting plan each month. Represent the College accurately in all recruiting conversations and coordinate admissions and financial aid messaging through the appropriate College offices. Program leadership and coaching responsibilities Direct all phases of the women's flag football program, including recruiting, roster development, instruction, practice planning, competition preparation, student-athlete development, and program administration. Establish team standards that promote academic success, retention, graduation, sportsmanship, personal development, community engagement, and respect for others. Teach sound techniques and conduct practices and contests in a manner that prioritizes student-athlete health and safety. Coordinate conditioning, injury prevention, and return-to-play matters with athletic training and strength and conditioning staff. Work with Athletics leadership to propose the spring 2028 operating budget, equipment needs, facility requirements, staffing plan, and competition schedule. Manage approved funds, travel, purchases, and records in accordance with College procedures. Recruit, recommend, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and student personnel when those positions are approved. Maintain a culture of compliance within the program and follow applicable NCAA, conference, sport-governing-body, and College policies. Complete required administrative and compliance documentation. Work with Athletics communications, development, and other College offices on appropriate program promotion, alumni outreach, community engagement, and approved fundraising activities. Communicate professionally with student-athletes, families, College personnel, prospective students, coaches, and external partners. Attend department and campus events as assigned and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Additional department-wide responsibilities may be assigned beginning in year two, with consideration for the program's coaching, recruiting, and student-athlete needs. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated experience coaching or leading flag football. Ability to identify and recruit students who can succeed at Saint Anselm. Strong teaching, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Commitment to student-athlete welfare, academic success, and an inclusive learning environment. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as the position requires. Ability to meet College employment requirements. Preferred Collegiate coaching or recruiting experience. Experience launching or growing a team or athletic program. Familiarity with NCAA Division III rules and the developing collegiate women's flag football landscape. Recruiting relationships in New England, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Mid-Atlantic region. Successful candidates will be able to assist the college in advancing its Catholic identity and strategic priorities, which include institution-wide diversity and inclusiveness.
