POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Gymnastics Coordinator, the Gymnastics Team Coach is to provide instruction and leadership in the Gymnastic Team Program in accordance with the policies and purposes of the YMCA. The Gymnastics Coach will teach a variety of gymnastics classes in a positive, safe, educational and fun environment. This position also treats everyone with courtesy, respect and consideration; displays integrity; listens actively and genuinely; communicates in a clear and pleasant manner; embraces differences among people; demonstrates an active willingness to learn and grow; accepts constructive criticism; works cooperatively as a team member. Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. This position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA is conveyed.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
Must be able to relate effectively to diverse groups of people of all ages.
Completion of required YMCA safety and compliance training.
PREFERRED
Previous gymnastics experience and/or prior training knowledge.
Working knowledge of proper teaching and spotting techniques or the ability to be trained in these skills.
Demonstrate ability to teach the development of skills and proper techniques.
Working Knowledge of the apparatus set-up and take-down.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program & Facility Operations
Provide direct "hands-on" leadership in coaching gymnastics.
Prepare lesson plans and routines for classes.
Set up, take down and or cleaning of equipment for each class.
Notify supervisor of any absence and secure a substitute.
Attend all instructor trainings and meetings.
Take daily attendance on YMCA Roster.
Supervise children before, during and after class.
Assist with meets, fundraisers, training and events. Safety & Compliance
Be responsible for safely spotting and lifting children of all ages.
Follow emergency and safety procedures, complete incident reports as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Required for essential duties; reasonable accommodations will be considered under the Americans with Disabilities Act; this list is not all-inclusive and may be supplemented as necessary.
Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.
Travel required between YMCA facilities and program spaces.
