A successful candidate will possess the following qualities: High ethical and professional standards. The presence and desire to be a role model for high school student athletes on and off the field. A commitment to the importance of academic excellence and achievement for all student-athletes in the program. Demonstrated ability to be a positive leader of the tennis program and develop and instruct young athletes academically, physically, and emotionally. A highly tuned ability to communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholders with a variety of methods. Skill in organization, teaching, program development, time management, fundraising and public relations. A thorough knowledge of the game of tennis, skill development, training and coaching techniques The BHS Head Varsity Tennis Coach will be responsible for the following: Managing all aspects of the high school program including- summer training, off-season workouts, tryouts, formation of teams, cuts, practice schedules, culture, calendaring, and routines. Hiring, training program coaches - establish program expectations,roles, and oversee assistant coaches. Provide regular communication with athletes/parents/families/staff, OSAA, League, AD's office, etc. Regularly track the academic progress of all student athletes in the program and facilitate necessary supports to ensure their academic eligibility. Oversee and enforce an academic plan of assistance if one is required. Cooperate with and support other school-sponsored sports and encourage athletes to participate in other programs. Develop and oversee a relationship with youth tennis programs below the 9th grade level to foster development of the overall program. Work with local media as needed and establish strong working relationships with community support groups. The BHS Head Varsity Girls' Tennis Coach reports directly to the Athletic Director and Principal All new hired coaches will need to complete the following prior to employment: 1. NFHS Certification. 2. First Aid Card. 3. District Fingerprinting/Criminal Check. 4. Completion of OSAA Concussion Test. 5. Completion -OSAA Steroid Program. 6. Completion- OSAA Heat Acclimatization/Heat Illness Prevention. 7. Completion of All District Requirements, OSAA paperwork, Safe Schools and employment forms.
