CrossFit Coach - Level 1 or Level 2 CrossFit WildThing Pleasant View, TN Job Details Part-time $20 - $35 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Gym membership Professional development assistance Free fitness classes Qualifications Crossfit Certification Training CrossFit Teaching Full Job Description
MAYBE IT'S TIME TO COACH AGAIN. A
love letter to CrossFit coaches. Maybe there was a time when CrossFit was one of the best parts of your day. You loved the noise. The chalk. The music. The nervous new person walking through the door. The athlete who had been chasing a lift for six months finally getting it. And maybe you remember what it felt like to coach somebody through something they were absolutely convinced they couldn't do... …and then watch them do it. Maybe life happened. You got busy. Had kids. Changed jobs. Moved. Burned out. Your old gym changed. Coaching stopped being fun. Or maybe you stepped away for "a little while," and somehow a few years passed. If any of that sounds familiar, we'd like to talk to you. CrossFit WildThing in Pleasant View, Tennessee is looking for CrossFit Level 1 and Level 2 Coaches to join our team. But we're really looking for something more than a certification. We're looking for someone who still believes this stuff matters.
WHAT COACHING MEANS TO US A
CrossFit coach gets an hour. An hour to make somebody feel seen. An hour to teach. An hour to make someone laugh after a terrible day. An hour to push somebody who needs pushing — and encourage somebody who needs that instead. An hour to help a 45-year-old parent realize they're stronger than they thought they were. An hour to teach a new athlete that scaling isn't failing. An hour to learn people's names, know their stories, celebrate their wins and remind them why they walked through our door in the first place. And tomorrow? You get to do it again. Rep after rep. Class after class. Person after person. That's coaching to us.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
You do NOT need to be a Games athlete. We don't care how many Instagram followers you have. And your Fran time probably isn't going to come up during the interview. We want someone who genuinely likes people. Someone who can walk into a room and bring energy with them. Someone who understands that the newest, most nervous athlete deserves every bit as much attention as the strongest athlete in the building. Someone who can educate, entertain and inspire. Most importantly, we want good humans.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You'll lead scheduled CrossFit classes using CrossFit WildThing's programmed Workout of the Day.
You'll:
Explain the workout, intended stimulus and movement standards. Teach and demonstrate movements safely and effectively. Provide appropriate scaling and modifications while preserving the intended workout. Watch people move and actually coach them . Give athletes individual cues, corrections, encouragement and support. Learn our members' names and build relationships with them. Help create an energetic, welcoming and professional class environment. Arrive prepared and help keep the gym ready for the next class. Participate in and protect the culture that makes CrossFit WildThing special. We aren't looking for somebody to stand beside a whiteboard with a stopwatch. We want a coach.
REQUIREMENTS A
current CrossFit Level 1 (CF-L1) credential or higher is required to lead classes. L1 and L2 coaches are strongly encouraged to apply. L3+ coaches are certainly welcome, but this position is not aimed only at highly credentialed coaches.
You should also be:
Personable and dependable. Comfortable speaking and leading in front of a group. Able to coach athletes of different ages and ability levels. Willing to continue learning and developing as a coach. Interested in building relationships with members. Close enough to Pleasant View that coaching here realistically fits into your life.
HAVEN'T COACHED IN A WHILE?
Apply anyway. Seriously. If your CrossFit credential is current but your coaching shoes have been sitting in the closet, we want to hear from you. If you once loved coaching but got burned out somewhere else, we want to hear your story. If you've caught yourself thinking... "Man, I kind of miss coaching." Maybe this is your sign.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$25-$35 per coached class , based on CrossFit credential, coaching experience and level of responsibility. Additional opportunities may be available for personal training, specialty programs and increased involvement within CrossFit WildThing.
Coaching positions may also include:
CrossFit WildThing gym membership Flexible scheduling Opportunities for additional coaching and program development
ONE LAST
THING... There are easier ways to make a few extra dollars than coaching CrossFit. We know that. So we're not trying to convince somebody who doesn't love this to become a coach. We're trying to find the person who already knows why coaching matters. The person who remembers the first athlete they helped get a pull-up. The person who watched someone walk into a gym scared to death and six months later barely recognized the person they had become. The person who understands that sometimes the most important thing a coach says all day isn't: "3...2...1...GO!" Sometimes it's simply: "I'm glad you're here." If you've missed that feeling... Maybe it's time to coach again.
