Please apply at this website: https://www.schooljobs.com/careers/coastalbend?page=2 Essential Functions The Head Coach is responsible for managing all aspects of the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I programs. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Coaching relevant knowledge, skills, techniques, and strategy. Develop cohesive seasonal and off-season game schedules with coaches from opposing schools. Supervise and evaluate assistant coaches. Develop weekly practice plans and student athlete evaluations. Recruiting qualified student athletes Effectively train and coach program student athletes
Job Duties and Responsibilities NJCAA Responsibilities:
Maintain compliance with National Junior College Athletic Association rules and regulations and Coastal Bend College policies/procedures as related to the sports program Report violations of NJCAA regulations or college policies to the Athletic Director immediately. Track and implement NJCAA rule changes, including assisting with initial student athlete certification, recertification, monitoring of the LOI database, and accurate completion of transfer paperwork for student-athletes. Understand and adhere to all policies and procedures of the college, Conference and the NJCAA. Assume complete responsibility to ensure that the student-athletes conduct themselves in an appropriate manner in accordance with NJCAA policies. Ability to exhibit integrity with high ethical standards and strict adherence to NJCAA, conference, university and departmental rules and regulations as well as solid commitment to academic integrity, student-athlete welfare, ethnic diversity and gender equity.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist with the development, management, and coordination of a balanced program budget continuously. Coordinate fundraising efforts through the Athletic Director in partnership with the Coastal Bend College Foundation. Supervise and evaluate all coaching staff and/or program volunteers. Communicate effectively with current coaching staff and prospective student-athletes. Develop, implement, and evaluate student athlete recruitment plans. Develop and promote current student athletes to encourage university transfers. Acts as a role model, exhibits good judgement and has a strong awareness of safety; know and understand all emergency procedures Act with professionalism in all circumstances Perform other duties as assigned.
Institutional Responsibilities:
Teach classes or participate in "Plus One" duty. Accurate and timely submission of new hire paperwork, time sheet compliance. Participate in a minimum of five (5) CBC Outreach and Recruiting Participate in the college's accreditation and other college-wide responsibilities. Designate a member of sports staff to serve as a student advisor Participates in professional development. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of five (5) years combined of active game situation coaching at the high school, travel/club, and/or collegiate level, and multiple years of professional playing/coaching experience. Experience with NJCAA, NCAA, and NAIA rules compliance regulations.
Certifications required include:
First aid/CPR/AED. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License. A copy of the Texas Driver's License must be filed with the Coastal Bend College Business Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree and seven (7) years combined of active game situation coaching at the high school, travel/club, and/or collegiate level, and multiple years of professional playing/coaching experience will be accepted. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Candidates will be expected to work as a team member in Athletics, serve as a role model for students, and maintain an appropriate professional relationship with students.
Supplemental Information Travel Requirements:
Coordinates transportation for the team for recruitment, advising, and outreach, games, practices; conducts a thorough pre-trip/post-trip, always exercises the effective defensive driving skills of self-control, alertness, foresight, checks passengers' seatbelts, and good judgment while operating the inspection of the passenger vehicle. Must have and maintain an excellent driving record and provide a copy of a valid Texas Driver's License.
Environment:
Position involves both inside sedentary work on the court and/or outside work on the field in coaching and training situations with student athletes; demonstration of appropriate sport skills may involve strained muscles or orthopedically related injuries from repetitive physical motion.
Addendum:
This position will include the following choice of duties: Serve as an instructor for 15 credit hours per annum if the candidate has completed a master's degree. Serve as the Coordinator of Intramurals and Recreation, including the following duties: Coordinate and schedule all intramural activities. Hire, mentor, supervise, train, evaluate, and schedule student staff. Serve as a primary student development link between the program and student staff. Coordinate with facility personnel for scheduling and operations of intramural programs. Coordinate public relations and marketing pertaining to Intramural Sports. Supervise intramural events by frequent on-site presence and availability throughout the seasons to answer questions from officials and participants, help maintain control during games, and help enforce intramural sports rules and regulations, including maintaining a high level of sportsmanship and penalizing unsporting behavior. Behave in a professional manner when on duty or participating in the Intramural program. Continually strive to maintain and improve risk management practices. Monitor safety hazards such as weather conditions and coordinate emergency procedures while ensuring the safety of Intramural participants by inspecting play areas and equipment before games/events start. Supervise the Student Office Staff, Sports Supervisors, and Sports Officials. Perform other duties as assigned.
