Job Description

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for a coach with real basketball knowledge and coaching or training experience — someone who can walk onto the floor and immediately add value by diagnosing mechanics, correcting technique, and pushing athletes to improve. You should be comfortable working with athletes and parents of all ages and skill levels, and hungry to grow your own personal training business within our facility. Sales comes with the territory here — you'll earn commission on both memberships and personal training, so this role rewards coaches who are ready to invest in their own success as much as their athletes'. SUMMARY To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to provide expert basketball coaching and skill development to athletes on the court, run equipment in the facility, handle general phone calls, and act in a customer service role for point-of-sale transactions. This role is built around real basketball expertise — you'll need strong coaching and training ability to properly guide athletes, correct their mechanics, and push them to compete at a higher level. This role also plays a direct part in growing the facility's revenue through personal training, classes, and membership sales.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Bring strong basketball knowledge and coaching/training experience to provide credible, hands-on skill development and technical feedback to athletes of varying skill levels Verbally and physically assist athletes in skill development during on-court workouts by connecting, correcting, competing, and challenging them Diagnose and correct shooting mechanics, ball-handling, footwork, and game IQ in real time Assist athletes in running the equipment in the facility, including the Automatic Rebounding Machine (ARM) and real-time shot tracking technology Answer general phone calls — inquiries about services offered, scheduling, requests, and overall customer service Perform point-of-sale transactions for memberships, apparel, training lessons, and all other items Conduct tours to prospective members so they may experience Shoot 360 Assist in overall facility cleanliness and maintenance Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation Display good communication skills and respectfully take direction from leadership Assist the leadership in the success and growth of the facility Help sell memberships, camps, clinics, and personal training to directly build facility revenue Assist with running camps, clinics, and classes, and provide general coaching for athletes Attend coaching training meetings and ongoing skill-building sessions as required Demonstrate outstanding customer service to our members Other duties as required
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Part-Time Basketball Skills Development Coaches are primarily responsible for the in-facility experience for our members and their families. This includes general customer service, coaching our members, running personal training, and running classes, clinics, and camps. The role also includes facility maintenance and cleanliness, plus some sales. Coaches need to be comfortable running new potential members through their first workout and then sitting down with the athlete and their parents afterward to provide a skills evaluation before making the pitch for them to sign up as members.
QUALITIES WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for coaches to help drive our basketball training programs forward. You'll spend the majority of your time on the floor coaching members while they train — putting real basketball knowledge to work diagnosing and correcting athletes' skills — and this is your opportunity to pitch and earn personal training clients. You'll also run potential members through their first visit, then sit down afterward to provide an evaluation and sell them on a membership. We need someone who is not only a strong coach, but comfortable with sales and hungry to build their own personal training business within the facility. You'll earn commission on both membership sales and personal training — so taking this role means betting on yourself to be able to coach, sell, and deliver on both.
NECESSARY EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED Minimum 2 years basketball experience (competitive playing, coaching or training)
