The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Berry College invites applications for a tenure-track Theatre position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning August 2027. We seek a dynamic teacher-scholar and theatre artist with expertise in Scenic and Costume Design and a strong commitment to undergraduate education. We seek a collaborative faculty member who values close interaction with students and contributes to the intellectual, artistic, and residential life of the College. Berry's Theatre program is student-centered and deeply committed to creativity, collaboration, and academic excellence. Through the Berry College Theatre Company (BCTC) , students participate in three mainstage productions annually, gaining hands-on experience in performance and production. Our program emphasizes personalized mentoring, rigorous academic training, and professional development through the LifeWorks student work program. We actively engage artists, students, audiences, and community partners in meaningful dialogue to foster diverse perspectives and inclusive practices. The annual teaching load is 18 hours, typically consisting of a 3-3 load that includes Scenic Design, Costume Design, and related courses, with the possibility of reassigned time for serving as a scenic or costume designer, or supervising student designers for the department's three annual productions. Faculty at Berry receive professional development support and opportunities to collaborate with students on creative and scholarly projects. We especially welcome candidates whose teaching and creative work will enrich the curriculum and reflect Berry's Good Neighbor culture.

Requirements:

Applicants must hold an MFA in Scenography or a closely related field (Scenic Design or Costume Design) by the date of employment.
