Job Description

The Social Sciences department at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, is seeking an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice to begin August 2027. This is a visiting professor or a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position depending on the candidate's experience level, education, and overall fit for the position. Candidates should possess at least a master's degree in Criminal Justice. Strong preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in Criminal Justice. The Social Sciences department seeks candidates with practical experience in the industry and/or a strong record of teaching and service. Teaching responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load consisting of a wide range of Criminal Justice courses with exact course assignments determined by the area of specialty of the candidate. The successful applicant will help lead the Criminal Justice curriculum and will work closely with faculty in Sociology and Psychology. The 4/4 teaching load includes core Criminal Justice courses and courses based on the candidate's secondary interests that can appeal to both majors and non-majors. In addition to normal service activities, the successful candidate will strive to find ways to advance Graceland's unique student experience and grow the Criminal Justice program.
