Job Description

Position Overview The Film and Television Arts Program in the Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing at Boise State University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Film Production, beginning Fall 2027. Film and Television Arts is a relatively new program and is currently one of the fastest-growing on campus. The successful candidate will teach fundamental and advanced film production, as well as at least two intermediate skills courses (e.g., Directing, Cinematography, Sound Design, Post-Production with Adobe Creative Cloud, and Producing). The ability to teach Film Audio, Animation, and/or Documentary will receive additional consideration. The selected candidate will teach four (4) classes per semester (Fall & Spring) and contribute 20% of their time to service to the university and community. Department Overview The Department of Theatre, Film, and Creative Writing is situated in the School of the Arts—an academic unit designed to serve as a vibrant urban hub for the study, practice, and integration of the arts. Minimum Qualifications MFA or equivalent terminal degree in film production or a related discipline or graduate degree with commensurate professional experience. Professional background and experience in areas such as narrative production, documentary, or commercial projects. College-level teaching experience from foundational through advanced levels. Preferred Qualifications Professional experience and ability to teach multiple areas of film production and/or postproduction. Track-record of full-time academic teaching. Demonstrated knowledge of professional media software and hardware. Expertise with Mac post-production workflows and Adobe Creative Cloud. Desire to contribute to a growing Film program. Our standard faculty contract is a 9-month contract (unless otherwise noted) with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. This is a yearly, renewable contract.
