Job Description

Assistant Professor of Exercise Science About McPherson College McPherson College is seeking an enthusiastic,student-centered Assistant Professor of Exercise Science to join its Health & Sport Studies Department. This is afull-time, tenure-track, benefits-eligible position with an anticipated start date of January or August 2027.
The role combines twocore responsibilities:
teaching 21 credit hours per academic year within the Exercise Science major (while leading the department's CSCSexam preparation program) and providing strength and conditioning oversight for select McPherson College athletic teams. The Bulldogscompete in the NAIA Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) across 18 varsity sports. Primary teaching responsibilities mayinclude courses in Strength and Conditioning, Biomechanics, Personal & Group Exercise Training, and Fitness Assessment & Prescription. Thesuccessful candidate will also maintain regular office hours, advise Exercise Science majors, support undergraduate research and appliedlearning opportunities, assist with student recruiting, and contribute to departmental and college governance. Faculty will work innewly renovated lab and classroom spaces (a recent $700,000+ investment) featuring modern physiology, human performance, and strength &conditioning equipment. Job Requirements A terminal degree (PhD or EdD) in Exercise Science,Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning, or a closely related field is recommended; however, applicants with a master's degree in thesefields are encouraged to apply, as a master's is the minimum requirement for this position. Current NSCA Certified Strength andConditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential (required) Experience in collegiate or high school strength andconditioning Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and student mentorship Ability to teach across the ExerciseScience curriculum (e.g., Strength and Conditioning, Biomechanics, Personal & Group Exercise Training, Fitness Assessment ⪻escription) Willingness to advise students, support recruiting efforts, and participate in departmental/college governance
