WCE Coordinator Design and Wellness Randolph Community College Cosmetology Department is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Natural Hair Instructor to join our education team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in natural hair care, styling, and maintenance, along with the ability to educate and inspire students in a professional learning environment. The Natural Hair Instructor will provide hands-on and classroom instruction covering natural hair techniques, product knowledge, hair and scalp care, protective styling, client consultation, sanitation, and professional practices. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engaging classroom and hands-on instruction in natural hair care and styling.
  • Teach techniques including, but not limited to: oNatural hair styling and maintenance oProtective styling oBraiding and twisting oLoc maintenance and styling oSilk presses and heat styling oHair treatments and conditioning oHair and scalp analysis oProduct selection and application oInstructing Theory from Milady Textbook
  • Demonstrate proper sanitation, safety, and professional practices.
  • Prepare lesson plans, demonstrations, practical exercises, and learning materials.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Help students develop technical skills, professionalism, confidence, and client-service skills.
  • Stay current with natural hair trends, techniques, products, tools, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance, progress, and performance records.
  • Support students in preparing for state board examinations and/or industry careers, as applicable.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and professional classroom environment.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school events, continuing education, and other instructional activities as needed.
Duties Provide engaging classroom and hands-on instruction in natural hair care and styling including online instruction in Pivot Point and Canvas. Teach techniques including, but not limited to: Natural hair styling and maintenance Protective styling Braiding and twisting Loc maintenance and styling Silk presses and heat styling Hair treatments and conditioning Hair and scalp analysis Product selection and application Instructing Theory from Milady Textbook Demonstrate proper sanitation, safety, and professional practices. Prepare lesson plans, demonstrations, practical exercises, and learning materials. Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback. Required and Preferred Qualifications Required :
Current Cosmetology or Natural Hair Instructor License as required by state regulations. Two years of professional experience working with natural hair. Knowledge of textured hair care, styling, maintenance, and protective techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to demonstrate techniques clearly and work effectively with students of varying skill levels. Commitment to sanitation, safety, professionalism, and student success. 2 years of previous teaching, training, mentoring, or leadership experience. Knowledge of North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts (NCSBCA) Policy and Procedures. Experience in preparing students for the NCSBCA Licensure Examination in Natural Hair Care.
Preferred:
Two years of previous teaching, training, mentoring, or leadership experience in a community college setting.
