North Carolina Wesleyan University invites applications for a 9-month appointment as a tenured/tenure-track professor (rank open) ofPublic Health beginning in August 2027. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, teaching a variety of public health classes atthe graduate and undergraduate level; advising and mentoring students; promoting program growth and academic quality; supervising studentinterns, and serving on internal committees. We are especially interested in candidates with experience and interest in public healthapproaches to nutrition and food security and/or working with rural communities. Our public health programs provide high-quality courses,collaborative community-engaged faculty, and opportunities to engage in faculty-student research. We offer undergraduate major and minordegrees, an MPH degree with two available concentrations (Physical Activity and Health and Social Epidemiology) and a Graduate Certificatein Public Health. We seek passionate candidates with online teaching experience, a strong grounding in health equity and communityhealth, and a commitment to growing and nurturing current and future public health professionals. All North Carolina Wesleyan faculty areexpected to engage students using pedagogically sound traditional and innovative instructional strategies. A regular teaching load is 12hours per semester, which may vary based on the distribution of teaching across the graduate and undergraduate programs.
Qualifications :
an earned doctoral degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Nutrition, or closely related field, is required. ABDcandidates will be considered but must have obtained a doctorate degree by August 2027. Previous college or university-level teachingexperience is strongly preferred, particularly in the areas of public health nutrition, epidemiology, and/or community health. Evidence ofadvising, supervising, and/or collaborating with students is highly desirable. Evidence of scholarly activities such as peer-reviewedpublications and professional presentations is also a plus.
