Good Shepherd Children's Center

PART-TIME CHRISTIAN EDUCATION COORDINATOR

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Part-Time Christian Education Coordinator is responsible for providing a consistent, joyful, and age-appropriate Christian education experience for the children of Good Shepherd Children's Center (GSCC). The Coordinator supports the mission of GSCC by helping create a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment where children are introduced to the love of God through Bible stories, Christian songs, prayer, activities, relationships, and everyday examples of Christian character.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Christian Education Coordinator will: Develop and deliver age-appropriate Christian lessons for infants, toddlers, three-year-olds, and four-year-olds/Pre-K. Develop weekly and monthly Christian education themes using Bible stories, songs, prayer, Scripture, activities, and visual aids. Teach foundational Christian values including love, kindness, forgiveness, gratitude, sharing, compassion, service, and respect for others. Connect Christian lessons to children's everyday choices, relationships, and behaviors. Provide classroom teachers with weekly themes, songs, activities, and simple ideas for reinforcing lessons throughout the week. Support Christmas, Easter, and other appropriate Christian celebrations and activities. Maintain basic lesson plans, schedules, materials, and program documentation. Coordinate with the Children's Center Director, Pastor, and Session regarding major Christian education themes as appropriate. Help strengthen the connection between GSCC families and Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church through approved family communication and activities. Model Christian character through respectful, compassionate, patient, and professional interactions with children, families, staff, and church leadership.
PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS
Each classroom should receive a regular Christian education experience appropriate for the children's age and developmental level. Programming should normally include a Bible story or lesson, Christian song, simple prayer, age-appropriate activity, and one clear Christian value or learning point. Program success will be measured through consistency, child participation and engagement, teacher feedback, lesson preparation, and the ability of children—based on age and development—to recognize Bible stories, participate in songs and prayer, understand that God loves them, and demonstrate kindness, gratitude, sharing, and care for others.
QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate will demonstrate: Commitment to Christian values and the mission of GSCC. Knowledge of basic Christian teachings and Bible stories. Experience working with young children in early childhood education, Christian education, Sunday school, children's ministry, or a related setting. Ability to communicate Christian concepts in a simple, positive, and developmentally appropriate manner. Strong communication, organization, creativity, reliability, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, families, and church leadership. Willingness to follow all GSCC policies, child safety requirements, and professional standards. Education or training in early childhood education, Christian education, children's ministry, education, or a related field is preferred.
OVERALL EXPECTATION
The Christian Education Coordinator is responsible for making Christian education a visible, positive, consistent, and age-appropriate part of the GSCC experience.
