Job Description

Job Description Job Title:
Curriculum Specialist Reports to:
Director General Function:
Supervise and guide a safe, nurturing and well-organized childcare program by developing teachers through curriculum development and implementing learning practices that enhance children's development in a holistic manner.
Requirements:
Responsible for the supervision of teachers in classroom planning and assessment. Position may require work outside the regularly scheduled program hours. Must attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings. Must hold a Bachelor's degree relevant to ECE, current CPR and first aid certifications as well as obtain 30 clock hours of professional development per employment year. Be knowledgeable of and implement current Stars' standards, Focused Portfolios and ELG guidelines.
Duties:
  • Plan both long- and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives
  • Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child
  • Model appropriate activities in curriculum planning
  • Coordinate in-house special guests/activities
  • Review weekly lesson plans and early learning guidelines
  • Monitor assessment of children's development
  • Track staff's progress through children's portfolios
  • Maintain daily open communication with parents and staff
  • Support staff writing anecdotal records
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Report any suspect abuse to supervisor or local agency
  • Arrange classroom environments in accordance to program goals and philosophy
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
  • Attend in-service, staff meetings, trainings, etc.
  • Supervise assistants, aides and volunteers in the classroom
  • Meet all applicable licensing regulations
  • Duties are not limited to the above.

Director Pay:
$16.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
