Special Education Reading Specialist - Upper Darby, Pennsylvania

Job Description

Bring your expertise in literacy instruction to an engaging full-time contract opportunity serving K-8 students in a dynamic educational setting. Two positions are available for passionate reading specialists who thrive in onsite, urban school environments and are ready to start supporting students as soon as possible. This contract extends through June 10, 2027, offering stability and a rewarding caseload.
Key Qualifications:
Valid and active Reading Specialist certification for Pennsylvania Demonstrated mastery of literacy content, instructional strategies, and use of resource materials PA teaching certification/licensure in good standing Previous school-based experience required Strong classroom and behavioral management skills Reliable transportation to the onsite school location Familiarity with working in urban settings and comfort adapting to district expectations Ability to pass all required Pennsylvania clearances Adept at collaborating, problem-solving, and supporting diverse student needs
Role Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted reading interventions for elementary students (K-8 caseload) Develop comprehensive lesson plans aligned with state and district standards Utilize formative assessments and differentiated instruction to advance student success Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and intervention strategies Foster an inclusive, positive classroom environment conducive to learning Work closely with educators, administrators, and families to support student literacy growth This role is full-time at 35 hours per week and requires onsite presence throughout the contract.
