Job Description
Dance Instructor - Ballet & Tap Job Overview We're seeking an enthusiastic, dependable Dance Instructor to teach beginner-level ballet and tap classes at our growing dance studio in Cary, NC. Classes will focus on introducing students to the fundamentals of dance in a fun, supportive, and encouraging environment. We're particularly interested in an instructor who enjoys working with young children, including preschool-aged dancers, and helping beginners develop coordination, musicality, confidence, and a love of dance. There may also be opportunities to teach older children or beginner-level technique classes, depending on experience and interest. Duties Plan and teach age-appropriate beginner ballet and/or tap classes. Introduce students to basic dance positions, steps, rhythm, musicality, coordination, and movement. Develop engaging lesson plans that accommodate different ages, abilities, and learning styles. Create a positive, welcoming classroom environment that encourages confidence, creativity, and participation. Maintain effective classroom management and support positive student behavior. Prepare students for informal performances or recitals as appropriate. Communicate professionally with families and studio staff regarding class activities and student progress. Qualifications Dance training and/or teaching experience in ballet, tap, or a related dance discipline. Experience working with children is strongly preferred, particularly preschool and elementary-aged students. Ability to teach dance fundamentals clearly and make lessons engaging for beginners. Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills. A patient, positive, and encouraging teaching style. Reliability and availability for scheduled weekly classes. Teaching experience is preferred, but we welcome inquiries from qualified dancers who have strong technique and a genuine interest in teaching beginners. Position Details Part-time, with potential for additional classes as the program grows.
