Full Job Description About Us:
Area Stage is a non-profit theatre organization producing award-winning productions and offering extraordinary educational programs. Our Conservatory trains young performers (ages 6+) in acting, singing, and dancing, inspiring the next generation of artists of all abilities.
Position Overview:
Area Stage Conservatory is seeking a passionate and experienced Vocal Coach to join our faculty. This hands-on teaching role is central to the artistic growth of our students, offering both private and group voice instruction with a focus on musical theatre performance. The ideal candidate will have strong vocal technique, the ability to teach a wide range of ages and experience levels, and a love for working with young performers in an inclusive, creative, and professional environment.
Compensation:
Starting at $25/hour , commensurate with experience and education.
Schedule:
Lessons and classes may be scheduled between 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM (Monday-Sunday); Flexible scheduling available
Responsibilities:
Provide age-appropriate private and group vocal instruction in musical theatre repertoire. Prepare students for auditions, performances, and recitals. Collaborate with teaching artists and production staff. Adapt curriculum to meet diverse student needs and learning styles. Foster a positive, professional learning environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years vocal teaching experience (private, studio, or academic). Strong knowledge of healthy vocal technique for young voices. Basic piano proficiency preferred (for warm-ups and accompaniment). Experience working with students ages 5-18. Background in musical theatre performance or direction is a plus. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Passion for mentoring students of all abilities and backgrounds.
