Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Is familiar with and performs the Head Start Standards.
  • Completes a variety of clerical duties in support of program activities, such as preparing, typing, copying, and filing.
  • Provides and maintains a safe and healthy Head Start environment.
  • Maintains office security by following safety policies & procedures and controlling access via the reception desk.
  • Completes material Requisitions as instructed by the Director
  • Collaborates with all Head Start Staff and assists them as needed.
  • Facilitates activities for the Teacher, arranges equipment and materials in the classroom.
  • Cooperates with other staff and classroom groups to maintain the smooth functioning of the center, which at times may require changes to meet the needs of the children.
  • Answers, screens, and forwards incoming phone calls.
  • Assists with breakfast, lunch, snacks, and any other meals as necessary by eating with and assisting children in the development of social and self-help skills and sound nutritional practices using family-style dining;
  • Maintains established standards of sanitation, safety, and food preparation and storage as set by the local and state health departments;
  • Maintains cost control, budget, and inventory systems based on CAFCP procedures, including records of food service and attendance.
  • Performs a variety of educational techniques.
  • Demonstrate the ability to react well under pressure, handle and balance multiple demands at one time, work with frequent interruptions, and perform duties and tasks at expected levels of professionalism.
  • Acts as a bus monitor for children's pick-up and/or drop-off, if needed.
  • Other duties may be required.
  • Is required by the State of Arizona, the Office of Head Start, and the Cocopah Tribal Social Services to be a mandated reporter of child abuse and neglect.
