Job Description

Summary/objective:
The individual in this role has previously executed supervisory duties or have a clear understanding of them, is able to work with harvesting forepersons, assistant supervisors, supervisors and able to take on the harvesting department responsibilities when needed. The Assistant Superintendent works alongside Superintendent at a higher-level assisting with customer field tours, office tours, special projects, help with field sales and purchases, able to communicate with outside harvest partners their harvesting needs and keep weekly notes on excel spreadsheets and harvesting administrative personnel, able to use a computer, smart phone, applications, different devices to accomplish tasks. Helps superintendent with start and end of season forecasting in different locations. Starts and closes harvest season on their own.

  • Assists Superintendent with responsibilities such as cost analyses, department policy development, and brings issues to the Superintendent when needed
  • Maintains inter-department collaboration
  • Uses plant/product weekly forecasting skills
  • This position requires regular driving as an essential job function in overseeing and coordinating various aspects of the harvesting process
  • Consistent attendance is mandatory

Travel required:
  • Occasional travel within the U.S.
  • Occasional overnight travel
  • Seasonal relocation between Salinas, CA to Brawley, CA to Yuma, AZ, and Mexico Required education and experience:
  • Good verbal and written bilingual and biliterate English/Spanish communication including the ability to effectively present facts and recommendations in oral and written form
  • Must possess a valid driver license and clean driving record, a Commerical A or B Farm Labor Bus Certificate is a plus
  • Needs strong math, comprehension, analytical, organizational and decision-making skills
  • Requires problem solving skills with a methodical approach
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure while managing multiple tasks
