Position Purpose

The Library & Digital Communications Coordinator supports the school community by overseeing library services and managing the school's digital presence. This position provides a welcoming and engaging library environment for students in grades K-12, supports faculty and students with research and educational resources, and promotes the school's programs, events, and accomplishments through its website and social media platforms.

Essential Job Function:

Manage the daily operations, organization, and resources of the K-12 school library.

Support students across grade levels with reading, research, information literacy, and digital resources.

Collaborate with teachers and staff to support curriculum needs and promote a culture of reading and learning.

Maintain and update the school website with current, accurate, and engaging content.

Manage school social media accounts and develop content that showcases student learning, school events, activities, and community achievements.

Create and curate photos, graphics, videos, and other digital content for school communications.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to communicate important news, events, and initiatives.

Help maintain a consistent, positive, and professional image of the school across all digital platforms.

Stay current with trends and best practices in school libraries, digital media, and educational technology

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students.

Ability to assist students with reading and writing applications.

Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).

Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.

Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with all students including those with special needs.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.

Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.

Effective writing and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications Profile

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

Library experience

Excellent website, social media and communication skills

Graphic design skills and experience

High School Diploma or the equivalent

Team working relationship with teachers and support staff

Ability to communicate effectively using oral and written language

Conditions include working inside and outside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, working closely with others, working alone, and traveling by car, van, bus.
