Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing a personalized learning environment and a comprehensive system of support to remove barriers to learning and graduation, inside and outside of the classroom.

Hiring Specifications:
Education

High School diploma or equivalent, required

Certification

None required

Experience

Experience working with at-risk youth in an urban setting, required

Experience working with students with barriers to graduation; preferred Experience working effectively with underrepresented populations; preferred

Experience with de-escalation methods; preferred

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of and experience working with a diverse group of people

Ability to work a flexible work schedule as needed

Ability to demonstrate patience, encouragement and support

Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and respectfully with staff, parents, students and community members regardless of race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic/national origin, religion, marital status, age, socio-economic status or disability

Ability to exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority and protecting confidential information

Solid record keeping and organizational skills; ability to prioritize

Knowledge of and adhering to school district policies, rules, regulations and discipline practices

Ability to develop rapport with families, students and staff

Ability to be proactive with problem solving skills

Understanding of appropriate resources at school and in the community while following the correct protocol in accessing those resources

Technology Requirements

Basic computer skills (computer navigation, email, web browser, Employee Portal)

Intermediate computer skills (Google Suites, search function, student information systems, basis promethean)

High computer skills (familiarity with Education Tech Tools, Informational systems specific to position

Ability to reach all skill levels listed if not already acquired

Job Duties:

Assists families with appropriate solutions to barriers presented (i.e., accessing and navigating childcare, transportation, housing, etc.).

Proactively connects with families when students demonstrate signs of graduation risk factors.

Travels to homes as needed.

Documents conversations and attempts on Infinite Campus.

Relays information from school to family & family to school (i.e., graduation requirements (Core vs. Standard), After Hours, Summer School, Success Street, etc.).

Connects at least monthly with students to monitor progress.

Tracks students' graduation requirements.

Collects and analyzes data as needed.

Celebrates students' success.

Participate in team meetings to monitor student progress, discuss student concerns and collaborate on curriculum.

Emphasizes goal setting/decision making and self-improvement skills.

Provides guidance in students' selection of careers, academic progress and employability skills.

Assists with coordinating with outside agencies that can assist students with a variety of needs. Performs other duties as assigned.
