SUMMARY:
The Athletic Director shall be responsible for providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, program development, and administration of the interscholastic NV Athletic Program grades 7-12. This includes planning, coordinating, implementation, supervision, evaluation, transportation, and fiscal responsibility of the NV Athletic Program. The Athletic Director shall formally collaborate with the Elementary Athletic Director to create a vertically aligned, developmentally appropriate K-12 athletic pipeline that promotes: skill progression, character development, participation, growth, sportsmanship, and competitive excellence. Such collaboration shall focus on establishing a shared program of philosophy and core values across elementary, middle school, and high school sports. The Athletic Director will coordinate feeder system programming aligning skill development and character expectations among coaches and players, ensuring consistency in expectations and culture. The Athletic Director will lead semi-annual, program-level discussions with all NV Corporation coaches and report participation trends and implement growth strategies. The Athletic Director will not serve as a head coach or assistant coach of any sport, unless required due to vacancy, or approved by the Superintendent. The Athletic Director will work directly with the H.S. Principal to establish a healthy culture and climate of sportsmanship throughout the school and community. The Athletic Director works directly under IHSAA rules and regulations and follows the policies and administrative guidelines of North Vermillion Community Schools.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop a multi-year, strategic and intentional athletic plan. This comprehensive plan should include a clear identity and purpose of the NV Athletic Program, prioritizing academics but also clearly identifying expectations of student athletes, coaches, and volunteers involved with the NV Athletic Program. Administer/supervise all interscholastic athletic programs within rules and policies set forth by the Indiana High School Athletic Association and North Vermilion Community Schools Work collaboratively with H.S. Principal to create and administer a coaching development system that shall outline: formal coach onboarding process, framework and tools for evaluation, ongoing professional development and leadership training, and succession planning. Make recommendations to the Superintendent and Board of Directors for coaching hires and dismissals. Create and provide oversight of a vertically aligned strength and conditioning program that is sport-specific. Facilitate and/or coordinate summer camps, winter leagues, and other out-of-season programs. Develop a schedule for all athletic events (contests and practices) with a focus on optimizing all experiences on a team-by-team, year-by-year basis. Serve as a mentor to coaches and athletes with a focus on integrity, consistent sportsmanship, and positive encouragement. Frequently observe practices and contests in order to accurately evaluate coaches and teams at the end of each season. Mediate conflicts within athletic teams. Confirm and monitor student-athlete eligibility before and during the season. Develop, establish, and enforce an Athletic Code of Conduct. Collaborate with coaches, teachers, and administration to ensure students follow the Athletic Code of Conduct. Encourage and promote multi-sport athletic participation across NV Athletics for well-rounded athletic development and enhanced long-term student engagement and culture. Disseminate, collect, and maintain required paperwork for student athletes. Coordinate and arrange for appropriate supervision of all athletic events by self, administrative personnel, or an approved designee. Schedule and communicate with contest officials. Schedule and communicate with needed game workers for each contest/event Manage and report fiscal revenue and expenditures of the Athletic department, including budget forecasting, near- and long-term to identify potential shortfalls and/or surpluses. Coordinate with building ECA treasurer to ensure all financial practices are consistent with Indiana State Board of Accounts policies. Manage athletic facilities and scheduling use of the same by the band, athletic teams, cheerleaders, dance team, and Falcon Activity Center Supervisor. Coordinate with Transportation Director to schedule transportation needs Communicate and collaborate with maintenance for repair and upkeep of athletic facilities and equipment. Schedule and communicate with custodial personnel for set up, cleaning, and teardown for all home events. Negotiate the annual Athletic Training contract, in coordination of the Superintendent, with an outside provider within the parameters set forth by the school corporation to establish student-athlete safeguards.
At a minimum:
concussion protocols, heat/acclimatization compliance, insurance coordination, and crisis/ injury communication procedures. Work with Athletic Trainer and school nurse regarding the health of student athletes. Provide all public relations information for the overall athletic program and social media following NVCSC staff guidelines on content neutrality and positive representation of the corporation. Perform other duties directed by the Principal or Superintendent as necessary

Review and evaluate consistent equity across all sports for boys' and girls' teams. Model accountability and expect the same from coaches and athletes. Show courage in addressing any concerns or policy violations with student athletes, coaches, and volunteers. Exhibit integrity and adherence to district policy and athletic regulations Represent the school in a positive manner in the community.
