Location:

Westbrook Middle School Join the dynamic team at Westbrook Middle School as an Interim Assistant Principal for the remainder of the 2026-27 school year.

Specific responsibilities include:

Supporting the implementation of a positive, inclusive, and student-centered school culture that promotes high expectations, belonging, and academic achievement for all students. Supporting school-wide systems for student behavior, attendance, and social-emotional learning through restorative and relationship-centered practices. Leading safety and security systems including coordination with district leaders and public safety personnel to create safe, structured, and supportive learning environments. Collaborating with the principal and instructional leadership team to strengthen Tier I instruction, intervention systems, and data-informed decision-making. Supporting Communities of Practice and instructional teams in analyzing student achievement data and implementing effective instructional practices. Assisting with the supervision, coaching, and evaluation of certified and support staff to foster professional growth and continuous improvement. Partnering with teachers, counselors, and student support teams to ensure equitable access to academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports for all learners. Strengthening family and community partnerships through proactive communication, engagement opportunities, and meaningful collaboration. Coordinating and supporting student transitions, including 8th-to-9th grade transition programs. Supervising extracurricular activities, student events, and after-school programming that enrich the middle school experience. Assisting with building operations, scheduling, and daily management responsibilities to ensure the effective functioning of the school. Representing and supporting the Interim Principal and serving as their designee as needed.

Demonstrate a commitment to instructional leadership and continuous school improvement. Be skilled at building trust, fostering collaboration, and cultivating positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Have experience using data to improve student outcomes and communicate information effectively to diverse audiences. Be visible, accessible, and actively engaged in all aspects of school life. Be organized, innovative, solutions-oriented, and future-focused in their thinking. Embrace and support restorative practices and whole-child approaches to education. Have experience working in diverse school communities with rich differences in language, culture, ability, income, and background. Advance the district's commitment to equity, opportunity, and ensuring that every student feels seen, valued, and empowered.

Qualifications:

Maine Certification 040 (Assistant Principal/Principal) or eligibility for certification. A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience; administrative experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in instructional leadership, school improvement, student support systems, and collaborative problem-solving. Experience facilitating professional learning and supporting staff growth is highly desirable.
