Job Description

Description Primary responsibilities include support with the daily functions at JC's Central Campus Admissions/Student Services front desk and office. Assist office staff and students with admissions, financial aid, and registration processes. Although this position is open to students from any academic program, it may be especially beneficial for students studying Business, Accounting, or Digital Transformation, as it provides opportunities to build career readiness, develop professional skills, and gain meaningful experiential learning. Essential Functions Provide excellent customer service by welcoming visitors to Bert Walker Hall and/or Student Services area answering questions and directing guests to the best of their ability in different modalities (phone, email, texting, and Live Chat) Students must possess pleasant demeanor, and critical thinking skills Students must maintain a friendly, personal, and welcoming demeanor while facilitating tours (individual and group) of campus to prospective students and guests The student should be comfortable speaking in front of large groups, to answer questions professionally and always represent the College in a positive manor while escorting prospective students and their families Students must possess a base knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs. These programs will be utilized for data input processes including database updates and general inquiries Assist students regarding course registration, admissions, financial aid, career services and other related topics Assist with Student Services front desk/Nexus operations and procedures such as record keeping, information management, filing systems, and other support services Assist with the coordination of student development activities, events, and projects designed to create an on-going atmosphere of care, concern, and goal attainment for students. Such activities/events/projects might include JetJam, College or Transfer Fairs, student ID cards, etcetera Ensure Bert Walker Hall front desk/nexus area is clean and organized Other duties as assigned by Admissions staff and
Director Minimum Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
Must be eligible for a Federal Work Study Award from Financial Aid Must be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours through the entire term Must have an accumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher Student must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision Student must be knowledgeable about Jackson College, its programs, the student body, and general admissions information Student must be able to effectively use interactive computer software Student must be clear in his/her telephone presentation, as well as courteous and professional during interactions with prospective student, parents, siblings, etc. Possess strong communication and time management skills while presenting themselves in professional manner
Hours:
Hours will be determined based on the students' class schedule. The student will be expected to work up to 25 hours a week, with occasional night and or weekend expectations to be determined in advance.
