$12.00-13.00/hour Description of the
Position:
The purpose of this position is to help provide exam and technology accommodations for students with disabilities. These accommodations include but are not limited to alternative testing, alternate-format textbooks, speech-to-text dictation, notetaking software, text to speech/screen readers, etc. The position will support accommodation provision, training students on use of software, assisting with technical support, light clerical duties, and maintaining an accurate database.
Transferable Skills:
Transferable skills include experience using assistive/adaptive technology, customer service skills, and ability to prioritize tasks based on importance, time sensitivity, etc. The ability to maintain confidentiality is of high importance, so experience handling confidential information is highly transferable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Operations:
Monitor the office email inbox, respond to student/faculty inquiries, greet incoming visitors, and manage scheduling calendars for staff and students.
Mass Communication Outreach:
Create monthly newsletters, tutorial videos, and update the DAC website
Accessibility Support:
Convert textbook materials into digital formats and set up basic adaptive technology stations, support textbook accommodations by printing/preparing exam materials, supporting students with learning how to use assistive technology.
Data Security:
Maintain strict student confidentiality in full compliance with institutional policies and privacy laws.
Qualifications:
Enrolled as a current student in good academic standing. Ability to commit to 4 to 6 hours per week of work during the academic year. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication capabilities. Demonstrated commitment to supporting inclusion of students with disabilities. Proven ability to handle sensitive personal information with absolute discretion.
Preferred:
comfortable navigating various technologies, including assistive technology, Google suite, and navigating scheduling and database software. This job description is for general information purposes.
