Job Description

About the Role We are seeking a dedicated leader to oversee our tool and die team. Your primary objective is to manage personnel and operations to ensure we meet our high standards for safety, product quality, output efficiency, and timely delivery, ultimately fostering satisfaction for all our stakeholders. Core Responsibilities While the following list outlines the primary functions of this role, please note that management may delegate additional tasks as business needs evolve. Uphold the organization's core mission, vision, and values throughout your daily operations. Serve as the primary point of leadership for all Tool Room supervisors. Manage the performance of your direct reports by providing consistent feedback, coaching, and mentorship, while handling corrective actions and escalating issues to senior management when necessary. Contribute strategic insights to the development of the plant business plan and monitor key performance indicators to ensure we meet our objectives. Establish and execute departmental strategies, tracking metrics to ensure our team goals align with broader organizational targets. Provide clear guidance and leadership that reinforces the plant's overall business strategy. Oversee the tool and die department's performance regarding safety, quality, production, and delivery benchmarks. Analyze and implement improvement initiatives to address operational challenges and support business plan goals. Collaborate on plant-wide efforts to identify and achieve cost-reduction targets. Foster a collaborative environment to build synergy across the entire facility. Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for dies and manage the inventory of spare parts. Maintain high standards of accountability and professional discipline within the department. Maximize production utilization and operational efficiency across the board. Lead the team to ensure dies are repaired promptly and efficiently to maintain high throughput levels. Manage department staffing and resource utilization to ensure we remain within budgetary constraints. Cultivate a positive team culture and promote a unified, team-oriented environment. Drive proactive leadership to instill a culture of continuous improvement throughout the department. Ensure that all work orders are prioritized based on operational needs. Facilitate and lead problem-solving efforts for both internal plant issues and customer-related concerns. Manage all external vendor relationships regarding die-related work. Support and lead initiatives that help the plant achieve and maintain quality certifications and customer awards, such as ISO 14001 or
TS 16949.
Ensure all team members understand their Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) obligations and hold them responsible for compliance. Guarantee that the team is equipped with the necessary tools and materials to perform their duties safely and effectively. Verify that all safety guards are properly installed and that every team member is consistently using required personal protective equipment (PPE). Adhere to all internal and OSHA-mandated safety protocols during every aspect of daily work. Build and maintain professional, positive relationships with colleagues across all levels of the organization. Uphold excellent housekeeping standards throughout the workspace. Comply with all company policies, including the Colleague Handbook and Quality Policy Manual. Leadership Expectations Provide direct oversight and guidance to Tool and Die Supervisors and hourly staff members. Model professional behavior that reflects our corporate values. Qualifications Education and Experience A Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Industrial Technology is preferred, with a Master's degree considered a plus. A minimum of eight years of experience in a maintenance supervisory role or as a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, and stamping processes is required. Required Skills and Abilities In-depth understanding of ISO 14001 and
TS 16949
regulatory standards. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication capabilities. Proficiency in reading, writing, and performing mathematical calculations in English. Proven experience in the practical application of lean manufacturing principles. Preferred Qualifications Ability to mentor team members in effective problem-solving techniques. Demonstrated leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills. Experience serving as a training facilitator. A collaborative mindset that excels in team-based environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting. Technical Proficiencies Metal Stamping & Forming (Progressive Die) Tool/Die/Mold Repair Skills Tool/Die/Mold Setup Experience
