POSITION OVERVIEW
Orion Institute is seeking a hands-on Director of Career Services & Student Services to lead student support, retention, career preparation, graduate placement, employer outreach, and related campus operations. It is ideal for someone with experience in career services, student services, higher education, workforce development, recruiting, academic advising, case management, or career coaching.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Guide accepted students through pre-start requirements, orientation, registration, schedules, and a successful first day of class. Serve as a primary student-support contact throughout enrollment, providing communication, follow-up, referrals, documentation, and problem-solving support. Partner with academic leadership and the third-party financial-aid servicer to monitor attendance, satisfactory academic progress, clock-hour progression, withdrawals, and student-status issues requiring follow-up. Coordinate student reminders and follow-up for financial-aid renewals, required documents, appointments, and Title IV-related deadlines. Prepare a weekly status report for the Campus Director identifying attendance concerns, student-support needs, outstanding requirements, withdrawals, potential compliance issues, and recommended next steps. Help students access appropriate community resources, including transportation, childcare, counseling, emergency assistance, and other support services. Coordinate approved make-up hours, completion plans, and retention interventions with academic leadership. Provide career-readiness support including résumé development, interviewing, professional communication, job-search skills, career coaching, and employment planning. Lead exit planning and graduate transition activities for students approaching completion and graduation. Provide graduate placement assistance, employment leads, employer introductions, follow-up, and employment verification support. Build and maintain relationships with local employers, community partners, and organizations that may hire Orion Institute graduates. Track student-service contacts, employer outreach, graduate employment activity, placement documentation, and required outcome reports. Work closely with admissions, faculty, program leadership, financial aid, and campus administration to support student retention, completion, placement, and satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant education and professional experience will be considered. Experience in career services, student services, workforce development, higher education, recruiting, case management, counseling, academic advising, or a related field is strongly preferred. Career college, vocational school, technical school, or postsecondary education experience is a plus. Experience with student retention, attendance intervention, satisfactory academic progress, clock-hour education, financial-aid support, Title IV processes, graduate placement, or accreditation reporting is highly valued. Strong communication, relationship-building, organization, documentation, and follow-through skills. Ability to work professionally and confidentially with students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to manage multiple student cases, deadlines, appointments, records, employer relationships, and follow-up activities. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets, data entry, and learning student-information or career-services systems.
