Job Description

Position Description Reporting to the Assistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs, the Part-Time Academic Coach for Parent Pathways Students provides academic coaching to students in Eastern's Non-Traditional Flex Undergraduate students. Position Responsibilities Provides online academic coaching to students who enroll for services with study skills, time/self-management, test-taking, reading strategies, etc. As requested, develops and presents online workshops focused on study skills, time management, "negotiating the system" (e.g., registration, financial aid), etc. Maintains case documentation and prepares weekly records of contacts and other summary reports as requested by the Assistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs. Assists students with navigating University systems such as financial aid and registration. Assists academically under-prepared or underperforming students in creating and following programs for improvement. Maintains competencies with web-based training and attendance at seminars. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Coaching and Opportunity Programs. Works to foster a team environment. Qualifications Master's degree in education, student affairs, counseling or a related field and a minimum of one year's experience in academic support, counseling, and/or advising in an institution of higher education are strongly preferred. Proven written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and organization and attention to detail are essential. Demonstrated student service orientation, and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite are required. One-two years of experience with Brightspace preferred. Experience with Zoom, online education preferred. Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines and ability to work independently in a cross-functional team fostering trust with all levels of faculty, staff, and leadership are essential. Experience in, or positive attitude towards, adult education is essential.
