The Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit (BVIU) serves as the administrative hub for a network of educational services designed to support the school districts within Beaver County, Pennsylvania. The BVIU plays a vital role in providing innovative educational resources and services that enhance student learning and achievement. The BVIU is seeking candidates to fill the Director of Special Education position. The Director of Special Education is responsible for the operation of all special education programs and services provided by the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit. QUALIFICATIONS
Hold a valid Pennsylvania Supervisor of Special Education Certification. Possess successful experience as a special education teacher. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively and work as a team. Prior supervisory and leadership experience preferred, with the ability to effectively manage and support multidisciplinary teams. Have thorough knowledge of federal and state special education laws, regulations, and compliance requirements. Demonstrate knowledge of applicable mental health laws, regulations, and compliance requirements preferred. Experience in budget development, financial planning, and resource allocation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide overall directive and supervision of the school age and early intervention programs and services. Provide support regarding special education laws and regulations. Provide administrative leadership, supervision, and oversight of Mental Health Programs, including Outpatient (OP) and Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS). Prepare and monitor all state and federal special education projects and budgets. Recruit and recommends personnel to provide the necessary staff to operate the special education programs. Develop and implement the annual Special Education Plan. Serve as the liaison with state and federal agencies. Maintain lines of communication with local school districts. Collaborate with all BVIU departments regarding services. Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Director of the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work year of 260 days (Twelve Months) with commensurate salary and benefits as approved by the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit Board of School Directors.
