\nDepartment\tSDSU-Undergraduate Nursing\nPhysical Location of Position (City)\tBrookings\nPosting Text South Dakota State University's College of Nursing is seeking an Academic Advisor who is passionate about student growth and success. This role offers the opportunity to build meaningful connections with students while contributing to a collaborative and supportive academic environment. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position. The College of Nursing has a long history of exceptional nursing education and this is recognized through its designation as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing. The college's fully accredited Healthcare Simulation Center across all 3 sites is further evidence of our commitment to high quality education for all students. Nursing's history of excellence, innovation and achievement across its graduate and undergraduate programs provides an excellent foundation for growth and innovation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

\nAdvise pre-nursing and nursing students, monitor academic performance, and track progress toward graduation requirements.\nConduct interviews with prospective students and facilitate evaluation of transfer credits for admitted students.\nCollaborate with the Director of Nursing Student Services (NSS) on recruitment and retention activities, including orientation for students entering the major.\nVerify academic standing for purposes related to financial aid and the Board of Nursing.\nAssist with the distribution and review of applications for admission to the nursing major.\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date student records in accordance with college requirements.\nCoordinate with the NSS Program Assistant I to ensure timely communication with prospective and enrolled students.\nWork closely with campus partners such as the Registrar, Admissions, and Financial Aid offices to support student success.

QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

\nMaster's degree related to duties completed by date of application;\nAt least one year of experience in Counseling, Advising, Education, or other related field;\nAbility to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences;\nExcellent oral and written communication skills;\nDemonstrated organizational and time management skills; and\nValid driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, and a willingness to travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\nDemonstrated experience with evaluating transcripts and new student orientation.\nDemonstrated experience with Banner Student or other student information systems.
