Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic, energetic K-12 System-wide Athletic Director to lead and coordinate athletic programs across our CCSE school district for the academic year.
Athletic Director Roles & Responsibilities:
Position Overview The Athletic Director coordinates, oversees, and develops athletic programs across CCSE Elementary, Middle, and High Schools . The Athletic Director works collaboratively with school administration, coaches, faculty and staff, student-athletes, families, and community partners to ensure that CCSE athletic programs operate safely, efficiently, professionally, and in alignment with the mission, vision, policies, and expectations of CCSE Schools. The Athletic Director serves as the primary coordinator for CCSE athletics but works under the direction and authority of CCSE Executive Leadership and building-level administration. Employment, personnel, financial, and other administrative decisions remain subject to established CCSE policies and approval processes. Athletic Program Oversight The Athletic Director will: Oversee and coordinate athletic programming for CCSE Elementary, Middle, and High Schools . Develop and maintain a comprehensive athletic program that supports student participation, character development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic achievement. Coordinate athletic opportunities by school level:
Elementary School:
Intramural athletic programs.
Middle School:
Coordinate and oversee all approved middle school athletic programs.
High School:
Coordinate and oversee all approved high school athletic programs. Establish consistent expectations, procedures, and communication practices across CCSE athletic programs. Regularly evaluate athletic programming and recommend opportunities for improvement, expansion, or modification to administration. Coaches & Athletic Staff Assist administration with the recruitment and identification of qualified coaches. Coordinate coach onboarding, orientation, training, certifications, and required documentation. Communicate CCSE policies, athletic expectations, procedures, and professional standards to all coaches. Monitor coaches' performance of their athletic responsibilities and provide feedback to administration. Address routine athletic concerns with coaches and refer personnel, employment, disciplinary, or performance matters involving an employee's primary CCSE position to the appropriate supervisor or administrator. Ensure coaches complete required trainings and maintain applicable certifications. Final hiring, termination, disciplinary, and employment decisions remain the responsibility of CCSE administration and/or Executive Leadership. Scheduling, Events & Facilities Develop and coordinate practice, game, tournament, and athletic event schedules. Coordinate with opposing schools, leagues, officials, administrators, and other appropriate organizations. Coordinate approved transportation needs for athletic events in accordance with CCSE transportation policies. Coordinate the use of athletic facilities and ensure practices and events do not conflict with school operations. Communicate schedules and schedule changes promptly to administrators, coaches, student-athletes, and families. Ensure appropriate supervision and game-day procedures are established for athletic events. Financial Management & Purchasing Develop and monitor the athletic department budget in collaboration with Administration and Executive Leadership. Maintain accurate records of athletic expenditures and approved purchases. Ensure all purchases follow CCSE purchasing procedures and receive required authorization. Monitor athletic fees and other approved athletic-related financial activities. Ensure coaches and athletic personnel understand and follow CCSE financial policies. Fundraising & Community Partnerships Coordinate and oversee athletic fundraising activities. Ensure all fundraisers receive required administrative approval before they are announced, advertised, or initiated. Maintain appropriate documentation and financial accountability for athletic fundraising activities. Ensure fundraising activities comply with CCSE policies and procedures. Develop appropriate community partnerships and sponsorship opportunities that support CCSE athletics. Promote positive community engagement and participation in CCSE athletic programs. Compliance & Student-Athlete Eligibility Ensure athletic programs comply with applicable CCSE, district, conference, league, and state requirements. Monitor student-athlete eligibility and participation requirements. Maintain required athletic documentation and records. Ensure physicals, consent forms, eligibility documentation, and other required records are completed before student participation. Work with school administrators and appropriate staff to monitor student-athlete academic eligibility, attendance, behavior, and disciplinary requirements. Immediately report significant compliance concerns to administration. Student-Athlete Development Promote academic achievement as a priority for all student-athletes. Establish expectations for appropriate conduct, sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and leadership. Promote a positive athletic culture consistent with CCSE's expectations for scholars. Support opportunities for student-athletes to develop leadership skills and positive character. Ensure student-athletes understand that participation in athletics is a privilege accompanied by academic, behavioral, attendance, and team responsibilities. Equipment, Uniforms & Safety Maintain an inventory of athletic equipment and uniforms. Coordinate the distribution, collection, storage, and replacement of athletic equipment. Ensure athletic facilities and equipment are regularly reviewed for safety concerns. Report unsafe equipment or facility conditions immediately to administration. Ensure coaches follow established emergency, injury-reporting, and safety procedures. Coordinate with administration regarding facility repairs, equipment replacement, and other safety needs. Communication & Public Relations Serve as the primary athletic liaison among CCSE administration, coaches, student-athletes, families, opposing schools, leagues, officials, and community partners. Maintain professional and timely communication with all stakeholders. Provide administration with regular updates regarding athletic schedules, programs, concerns, accomplishments, and needs. Coordinate athletic announcements and promotional information with appropriate CCSE personnel. Promote athletic accomplishments, student-athlete achievements, sportsmanship, and positive representation of CCSE Schools. Ensure athletic information distributed publicly is accurate and appropriately approved when required. Professional Expectations & Administrative Authority The Athletic Director is expected to demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, confidentiality, accountability, and effective communication at all times. The Athletic Director is responsible for coordinating and overseeing athletic operations; however, the position does not supersede the authority of building principals, employees' direct supervisors, the Chief of Staff, the CEO, Executive Leadership, or the CCSE Board.
The Athletic Director must:
Follow all CCSE policies, procedures, administrative directives, and financial controls. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with coaches, student-athletes, families, and staff. Protect confidential student and personnel information. Immediately communicate significant safety, compliance, financial, personnel, or student concerns to the appropriate administrator. Seek administrative approval when a decision falls outside the Athletic Director's established authority. Work collaboratively with building principals and Executive Leadership to ensure athletics remain aligned with the overall academic and operational priorities of CCSE Schools. Qualifications Proven experience in school administrative leadership or as a school experience administrator with a focus on athletics or student activities. Demonstrated expertise in program development, team management, and personnel management within an educational setting. Strong background in higher education teaching or higher education administration preferred; experience working with students of various ages is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and educational administrative software for record-keeping and reporting purposes. Excellent writing skills for preparing reports, proposals, and communication materials related to athletic programs. Experience supervising staff members such as coaches or other school personnel involved in extracurricular activities. Knowledge of childcare principles relevant to early childhood education centers when integrating physical activity programs for young children. Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional leadership skills with a focus on team management, motivation, and fostering a positive school culture around athletics. Pay:
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
