Job Description

Student Worker - Information Desk Attendant The Blinn College District is searching for a Student Worker - Information Desk Attendant at our Bryan Campus. Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below: Job Summary The Information Desk Attendant serves as the primary point of contact and the "face" of the college for students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. Stationed at the central information hub, in the Administration Building, Bryan Campus. This role is responsible for providing accurate directions, answering campus-related inquiries, and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, a welcoming demeanor, and a thorough knowledge of campus resources, events, and building locations. Selection is based on communication skills, composure, responsibility, and availability to perform clerical duties for the Prospective Student Relations office and assist with other required tasks as assigned. Principal Accountabilities Greet visitors warmly and professionally, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Provide accurate directions to campus buildings, offices, Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls to appropriate departments or personnel. Assist individuals in navigating the college website, campus maps, and online directories. Perform clerical and other duties as they are assigned for the Prospective Student Relations office Serve approximately fifteen hours per week throughout the semester.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Enrollment as a current student and eligible for Federal Work Study funding. Minimum Competencies Must be federal work study eligible Ability to communicate effectively Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment Value diversity and sensitive to individuals who require special assistance Available to work approximately 15 hours per semester Preferred Qualifications Experience in customer service, reception, or administrative support Experience with receiving and making phone calls Familiarity with college campus and administration layouts, and departmental structures. Experience working in a diverse, multicultural higher education environment. Bilingual or multilingual capabilities a plus.

Ability to remain calm, patient, and polite when dealing with stressed or confused individuals.
Problem-Solving:
Strong resourceful skills to find answers to unique or unusual questions quickly.
Reliability:
Punctual and dependable, ensuring the desk is never left unattended during operating hours.
Special Notes To Applicants Work Hours:
Monday - Friday between the hours of 8am - 5pm Scheduled around Blinn Classes, up to 15 hours a week. They serve approximately fifteen hours per week throughout the semester. Lifting up to 25 pounds. Blinn College or High School Transcript, if applicable Recommendation letter from a high school teacher or counselor or Blinn faculty or staff member addressing the applicants' communication skills, responsibility, and reliability welcomed.
