Job Summary Job Summary The Elementary Long-Term Substitute Teacher-Pool provides full-time virtual instructional coverage for California Online Public Schools when teachers are on leave. This posting is intended to establish a pool of qualified long-term substitutes who may be contacted as assignments become available; placement in the pool does not guarantee an assignment. The teacher will be asked to substitute teach in classrooms from grades TK-5. Working from a home office, this role supports students across all elementary grade levels by delivering live lessons, monitoring progress, maintaining communication with families, and ensuring continuity of instruction. Assignments typically range from one (1) month to five (5) months. During an assignment, the substitute teacher will be expected to work full-time (40 hours a week). Substitute teachers work under the guidance of instructional leadership and collaborate closely with school teams to uphold high academic expectations and student success. Previous experience teaching in a virtual or Independent Study environment. Experience working with diverse student populations. Strong communication skills and proficiency with technology and virtual learning platforms, including Zoom, Google Workspace, Canvas, and School Pathways. Must have English Learner authorization. Must currently reside in California. Strong communication skills and comfort with technology and virtual learning platforms. Previous experience teaching in a virtual or Independent Study environment. Experience working with diverse student populations. Strong communication skills and proficiency with technology and virtual learning platforms, including Zoom, Google Workspace, Canvas, and School Pathways.
