The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction while establishing a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. The position focuses on early academic development, positive classroom routines, student progress, family communication, and collaboration with other educational professionals.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Instruction:
Deliver play-based and small-group lessons in early literacy, phonics, math, science, and social studies.
Classroom Environment:
Establish clear routines, positive behavior supports, and a safe, inclusive learning space.
Assessment:
Track student progress, adapt lessons, and provide targeted support or interventions.
Communication:
Maintain regular contact with parents and guardians regarding academic and behavioral growth.
Collaboration:
Partner with grade-level peers and special education staff to support all student learning needs.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Education with a valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate. ZG or ZS Early Childhood endorsement preferred.
Experience & Skills:
Prior early elementary experience with strong classroom management, communication, and basic educational technology skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit on the floor, bend, stand, lift up to 30 lbs., and supervise active indoor and outdoor activities.
