The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) in the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) at Howard Universityinvites applications for a full-time, tenure-line faculty position in Environmental Engineering at the Associate Professor rank. Thesuccessful candidate will hold the Eugene and Dorothea Krysuik Endowed Associate Professorship. Applicants currently serving at theAssistant Professor rank may also be considered, provided they have a demonstrated record of accomplishments that support promotion andappointment to Associate Professor at the time of hire. We welcome candidates with expertise across the broad areas of EnvironmentalEngineering. Preference will be given to applicants whose research integrates Environmental Engineering with one or more civil engineeringdisciplines, such as transportation, geotechnical, construction, water resources, or structural engineering, and who demonstrate acommitment to advancing interdisciplinary research, teaching, and collaboration. Relevant interdisciplinary areas include, but are notlimited to, environmental sensing and smart infrastructure; geoenvironmental engineering and contaminated-site remediation; environmentalimpacts of transportation systems and sustainable mobility; low-carbon infrastructure materials and sustainable construction; stormwatermanagement and urban water quality; and AI/ML applications in environmental engineering and related areas. Preference also will be given tocandidates who hold a professional license.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will: 1) establish and maintainan externally funded research program; 2) advise graduate and undergraduate students in research and professional development; 3) teachgraduate and undergraduate courses in environmental engineering, and in related areas of civil engineering to support the needs of the CEEdepartment; 4) actively participate in professional, university, college, and departmental service activities; and 5) Mentor students fromdiverse backgrounds and life experiences, fostering an inclusive, equitable, and supportive academic environment.

Qualifications:

An earned doctoral degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or a closely relatedfield Demonstrated ability to secure competitive external research funding A strong record of peer-reviewedpublications in reputable scholarly journals Evidence of excellence in teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduatelevel Outstanding written and oral communication skills A commitment to Howard University's mission and corevalues
