Integrity, Excellence, Kindness, Resilience, Teamwork Job Summary Job Summary The Teacher Induction Mentor provides coaching, guidance, and professional support to an assigned Induction Candidate throughout the school year. The mentor works collaboratively with the candidate to support instructional growth, completion of induction program requirements, and professional reflection aligned with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP). This position requires a commitment to ongoing collaboration, classroom observation, professional reflection, and participation in required Madera Induction Consortium (MIC) activities. Major Responsibilities The Teacher Mentor will: Meet with the assigned Induction Candidate for a minimum of one (1) hour per week Review and support completion of weekly and monthly induction requirements Support the development, implementation, and completion of the candidate's Individual Learning Plan (ILP) Conduct a minimum of two (2) classroom observations per semester and provide written feedback Complete required collaboration logs, documentation, and program evaluations Maintain regular communication with the assigned candidate and Induction Coordinator Attend all required Madera Induction Consortium (MIC) mentor trainings, workshops, and culminating activities Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional support throughout the induction process Maintain confidentiality and a supportive, non-evaluative mentoring relationship with the assigned candidate Requirements / Qualifications Possession of a valid California teaching credential Minimum of five (5) years of successful credentialed teaching experience Demonstrated effective teaching, communication, and collaboration skills Knowledge of California standards, curriculum, and effective instructional practices Ability to establish and maintain a positive, supportive, and collaborative relationship with the assigned Induction Candidate Ability to provide coaching and feedback in a supportive, non-evaluative manner Commitment to completing all mentor responsibilities, trainings, documentation, and program deadlines Teacher Mentors should anticipate approximately 1-2 hours per week throughout the school year, in addition to required MIC trainings and activities. Required MIC activities may include the Mentor Kickoff, ILP Workshop, mentor training sessions, culminating-event workshops/panel participation, and year-end reflection activities. Most scheduled MIC sessions are approximately 1.5 hours each.
