Must have Michigan teacher certification and endorsement in the subject. At DCS, we believe that Education is Power. Job Summary :
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Language Arts Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching literature, writing, and language skills to middle school students. This individual will create a stimulating classroom environment, encourage student engagement and participation, and foster a love for reading and writing.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
Teach a diverse curriculum that includes literature, composition, grammar, and language usage while considering varied learning styles and needs. Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles. Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations. Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives. Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution. Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff Regular and predictable attendance
Cognitive Demands:
Supervision of multiple students at once Establishing routines and procedures Maintaining a safe and orderly environment Create and implement instructional plans Participate in continuous professional development Effective oral and written communication skills
Physical Demands:
Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25lbs Stand and walk frequently Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year Withstand a moderate noise level Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary Assist/lift students, as necessary Qualifications Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification/license for the relevant state. Experience in teaching high school students is highly desirable. Strong understanding of English language and literature. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students. Commitment to professional development and staying current with educational best practices
