Creative Writing Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Creative Writing Instructor to guide students in developing their unique voices and storytelling skills. The ideal candidate will be a skilled writer with teaching experience who can foster creativity, build confidence, and teach the fundamentals of compelling written expression across multiple genres.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging creative writing lessons for students of various ages and skill levels. Teach narrative structure, character development, dialogue, poetry, descriptive writing, and other key elements of creative writing. Encourage students to explore a range of genres including fiction, poetry, memoir, and drama. Provide individualized feedback and revision strategies to help students strengthen their writing. Foster a positive, inclusive, and imaginative classroom environment. Facilitate writing workshops, group critiques, and publishing or performance opportunities where applicable. Track student progress and communicate with parents/guardians or program staff as needed. Stay current with trends in literature, youth writing, and creative teaching methods.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing, English, Literature, Education, or a related field (Master's preferred). Strong portfolio of creative writing work (published work is a plus). Teaching or mentoring experience, particularly with youth or teen programs. Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills. Ability to inspire students and create a safe space for creative expression. Familiarity with digital writing tools and online instruction platforms (if applicable).
