Position Information Title Work Study Innovation Assistant
Position Description Seeking BSU students who want to help other BSU students design their BSU! The Student Professional Development Office (SPDO) is a new office that supports student growth through life design, professional skill development, and in-person and virtual engaged learning. Innovation Assistants will play an important role in helping students grow confidence, spark curiosity, and build professional skills and life plans for success while at BSU and beyond. Depending on skills and interests, an Innovation Assistant may participate in duties within one or more of the following areas:
Program and Event Support:
Assist with preparation, setup, delivery, and breakdown of events and programs. Prepare and organize event materials, supplies, and swag. Assist with tracking and evaluations. Support in-person, virtual, and hybrid events.
Campus Outreach and Student Engagement:
Actively engage students in hands-on activities. Share office resources, information, and upcoming program details. Contribute to brainstorming sessions with staff and other innovation assistants to envision new programs and approaches to increase student awareness and participation.
Communications and Creative Projects:
Assist with design for marketing, activities, and event materials; presentations and special projects. Create and post on social media. Training will be provided, if needed, for using Canva, video creation platforms, EngageBSU, Instagram, etc. This position operates within a collaborative, team-oriented environment that values creativity, curiosity, innovation, communication, inclusion, and professional growth. Work may take place in shared office spaces, classrooms, event venues, collaborative environments, virtual platforms, and other campus locations depending on program and project needs. Student employees should be comfortable interacting with individuals and groups of varying sizes and adapting to different responsibilities and work environments. Training, onboarding, program preparation materials, mentorship, coaching, and ongoing professional development will be provided to support success in the role. SPDO student employees are active contributors to the office's mission. They will have opportunities to develop, practice, reflect upon, and articulate professional skills throughout their employment experience.
Eligibility requirements:
Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
Must have Work Study award in your financial aid package Preferred Qualifications Dependable and able to arrive on time for scheduled shifts Strong verbal and written communication skills Attention to detail Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with support and guidance; ability to work independently and in a team Comfortable with using technology Physical Demands Ability to work at a computer and complete project-based assignments
Ability to assist with program preparation, event setup, event breakdown, and organizational tasks
Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of program materials and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
