1855 Professorship One tenured full-time research faculty position at the Associate or Full Professorlevel Michigan State University Flint, Michigan, United States The College of Human Medicine at MichiganState University (MSU) invites applications for one tenured full-time research faculty position at the associate or full professor levelwithin the Charles Stewart Mott Department of Public Health in Flint, Michigan. Backed by a $25 million gift from the Charles StewartMott Foundation, MSU offers large or fully guaranteed salary coverage for researchers relocating substantial external fundingportfolios. About the Department and Community Founded in 2011 through a unique proposal from Flint-areahospitals and community members, the department operates on an unprecedented community-partnered model. As the first academic department tobe co-developed and co-governed in partnership with the communities it serves, local citizens actively shape governance, focus areas, andserve on faculty hiring committees. Flint is a historic hub for community-based participatory research. This community-partneredapproach has driven the Department's external funding (over $500M since beginning in 2015) and real-world impact. Featured current projectsinclude two NIH-funded Centers (focused on maternal health equity and suicide prevention) and Rx Kids, the nation's first universal cashprescription program for infants and expectant mothers. About the 1855 Professorship This 1855 Professorshipoffers a unique opportunity for an established researcher who seeks to continue their highly impactful, community-engaged health equityresearch to drive change in areas both relevant to Flint and widely applicable. These include increasing equity in social determinants ofhealth, behavioral health, healthy behaviors, chronic disease, maternal-child health, and environmental justice, among others. Thisopen position is supported by the MSU Provost's 1855 Professorships initiative that seeks to elevate the academic quality and reputation atMSU. The new faculty member will be expected to contribute to the multidisciplinary "Science for Community Impact" cluster of researcherswho conduct translational science with marginalized communities using community-engaged, equity-focused partnerships.
