Assistant Dean of Academic and Student Affairs Generations College, Chicago, Illinois Generations College is seeking an Assistant Dean of Academic and Student Affairs. Founded in 1904, Generations College is Chicago's first and finest two-year, private, nonprofit college, offering premier business, legal, and professional programs. Generations College received 10-year accreditation from HLC in 2025. The College will be offering BA degrees in selected programs beginning Fall 2026. The Assistant Dean of Academic and Student Affairs reports to the Dean of Academic and Student Affairs and provides leadership for student success, retention, academic support, student engagement, and faculty collaboration. The position serves as a bridge between Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, ensuring students receive comprehensive support throughout their educational journey. Student Affairs Develop and implement initiatives that improve student retention, persistence, graduation, and career outcomes. Monitor at-risk students using Canvas activity, faculty feedback, grade reports, and outreach records, and coordinate timely intervention strategies. Provide academic advising and support for students experiencing academic or personal challenges. Oversee student activities, clubs, student government, and co-curricular engagement opportunities. Support continuing student registration and enrollment goals. Develop employer partnerships and provide career advising, internship support, and workforce readiness programming that enhance student employment and experiential learning opportunities. Support student access to Canvas, institutional technology, and student communication systems. Prepare reports and maintain student success metrics. Academic Affairs Support academic operations, course scheduling, and program implementation. Collaborate with Program Directors and faculty to improve student learning outcomes. Review academic standing, probation, appeals, and student success plans. Assist with assessment, accreditation, compliance, and institutional effectiveness initiatives. Support faculty development and academic quality improvement efforts. Assist with semester operations, including early alert monitoring, midterm academic progress review, end-of-term SAP preparation, and post-semester documentation. Maintain accurate and FERPA-compliant documentation related to student records, academic concerns, complaints, appeals, student outreach, and student success interventions. Serve as a model of teaching excellence and support the mission, vision, and values of Generations College. Qualifications Required Master's degree from an accredited institution. Three or more years of experience in higher education, student affairs, academic affairs, advising, retention, or student success. Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Commitment to student-centered education and academic excellence. Preferred Doctoral degree or progress toward a doctoral degree. Experience with accreditation, assessment, and institutional effectiveness. Experience using student information systems and academic support platforms such as Canvas, Ellucian/SIS, Google Drive, Google Sheets, DocuSign, Uwill, Handshake, or similar systems. Monday-Friday with occasional evenings and weekends
Work Location:
Hybrid (Chicago, IL) — in office Tuesday-Thursday; remote Monday and Friday.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
