Job Overview The Family Medicine Residency Program Director plays an integral role in the academic and clinical training of family medicine residents. This position is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the residency program. The Program Director ensures that the educational environment is conducive to learning and professional growth, while maintaining compliance with accrediting bodies and institutional policies. A strong leader, the Program Director, collaborates with faculty, administrative staff, and external partners to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the residency program. Family Medicine Residency Program Director Responsibilities & Duties Develops and implements the curriculum for the residency program. Evaluates and mentors residents throughout their training. Ensures compliance with ACGME accreditation standards. Recruits and retains high-quality faculty and residents. Oversee the residency program budget. Manages residency program policies and procedures. Coordinates clinical rotations and schedules. Facilitates resident research and scholarly activities. Organizes and participates in recruitment activities, including interviews and open houses. Maintains records and documentation related to the residency program. Fosters a positive learning environment and culture. Conducts regular program assessments and make improvements as needed. Serves as a liaison between residents and faculty. Addresses resident concerns and grievances. Ensures residents meet all graduation requirements. Attends Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) meetings and professional conferences dedicated to the development of Program Directors. Family Medicine Residency Program Director Qualifications & Skills Experience as a teaching faculty member (minimum 3 years preferred). Current certification in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, American Osteopathic Board of Medicine, or specialty qualifications acceptable to the Review Committee Proven leadership and administrative skills. Experience with ACGME accreditation processes. Familiarity with HRSA requirements for the THCGME grant Ability to administer and maintain a learning environment conducive to educating residents in the ACGME competency domains Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to resident education and well-being. Knowledge of current trends in medical education. Involvement in professional organizations related to family medicine. Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in family medicine. Experience in medical education and teaching. Licensure to practice medicine in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Ability to develop and implement educational programs. Strong organizational and management skills. Commitment to maintaining high educational standards.
