Position Dates:
Approximately January 9, 2027, through approximately April 2, 2027 (12 weeks)
Description:
The District is seeking a qualified 7th Grade Social Studies Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide high-quality instruction within a general education classroom setting. This position will begin approximately January 9, 2027, and continue for approximately 12 weeks. The substitute teacher will be responsible for continuing the instructional program established for the classroom, supporting student learning, and maintaining a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong instructional and classroom management skills, establish positive relationships with students, and work collaboratively with grade-level teams, support staff, and families to promote student success.
Qualifications:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Social Studies endorsement Bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred Middle school teaching experience preferred Previous teaching or classroom experience preferred Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging 7th grade Social Studies instruction aligned to grade-level standards and established classroom plans Support and differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs Monitor and assess student progress Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment Implement classroom routines, procedures, and expectations Collaborate with grade-level colleagues, support staff, and administration Communicate appropriately with students, families, and staff Maintain accurate student records and complete required documentation Participate in professional development, meetings, and school activities as appropriate Support the District's educational philosophy, goals, and student achievement initiatives Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Valid Illinois PEL with Social Studies endorsement appropriate for the assignment Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team Commitment to student-centered instructional practices Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff Ability to maintain a professional and supportive classroom environment
Physical Demands:
Ability to read and communicate effectively with employees and students of the District Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, diagram, or oral form Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel, or operate objects or controls, and reaching with hands and arms Vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 20 pounds Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
Compensation:
$250 per day This is a 12-week long-term substitute position beginning approximately January 9, 2027, and continuing for 12 weeks through approximately April 2, 2027.
