Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union

6th Grade Teacher

Job Description

Join a vibrant learning community where curiosity is nurtured, creativity is celebrated, and every child is known and valued! Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union is seeking a passionate, student-centered 6th Grade Teacher to inspire young learners and develop a strong academic and social-emotional foundation at Flood Brook School beginning in the 2026/2027 school year. In this role, the 6th Grade Teacher will create a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning. The 6th Grade Teacher will deliver developmentally appropriate instruction in the four core content areas of the curriculum that meet the diverse needs of all students while fostering independence, collaboration, and resilience.

As an integral member of the school community, the Teacher works closely with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure each student thrives. Aligned with Vermonts commitment to educating the whole child, this role blends strong academic instruction with social-emotional learning, community connections, and innovative teaching practices into the daily work.

Applicants are expected to know current instructional research and evidence-based instructional practices. Strong candidates will demonstrate a student-centered approach, exemplary oral and written communication skills, strong relationship-building skills with students, and a commitment to working collaboratively with all colleagues. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience delivering rich mathematical learning experiences to elementary school students in a public school setting.

This is a terrific opportunity for an educator who is enthusiastic, reflective, and committed to equity; who believes in the potential of every student and is excited to make a meaningful impact each day.
