Job Description

Job Summary:
The secondary librarian is responsible for the development and implementation of an ongoing instructional program, that ensures students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. Provides for the informational needs of students and staff on a building level in support of the district curriculum and empowers students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers and ethical users of information.

Minimum of 184 days Job Qualifications The following are required: 1. Hold a current Alaska Type A teaching certificate with a library endorsement or a master's degree in library and information science. 2. Demonstrated technology skills and experience with computerized and web-based library management systems, database searching, and other digital and social media resources. 3. Working knowledge of Internet searching and experience providing instruction in online reference searching. 4. Ability to successfully build and foster relationships with colleagues, administration, parents, and school communities based on professional respect. 5. Ability to work comfortably and effectively with middle and high school students. 6. Ability to create a welcoming and engaging environment conducive to learning. 7. Ability to promote literature and assist students in connecting with library resources of interest to encourage reading and research. 8. Ability to work independently while coping with continual interruptions, shifting job priorities, and stressful conditions. 9. Ability to coordinate the activities of volunteers, library assistants, and student aides. 10.
