Description The Claysburg Area Public Library is seeking a Library Director working approximately 35 hours per week. The library is located in a rural area serving the communities of Claysburg, East Freedom, and parts of Bedford County. It is part of the Blair County Library System and serves the Claysburg-Kimmel School District and beyond.
Salary:
$27,000 to $30,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Job Hours:
Full-time, 35-hour work week, including occasional evening and/or weekend hours.

Position Overview:
The library director plans, organizes, directs, evaluates, and reviews the library resources, and programs to respond to the needs of the community. Duties include preparing and implementing the library's short and long term goals; developing and monitoring budget resources; community outreach; and supervising staff and services. This is carried out under direction of the Library Board in accordance with Board policies and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two (2) academic years of college education including nine (9) credits in Library Science from an accredited institution OR (Two) 2 academic years of college education with no credits in library science and nine (9) college credits in library science from an accredited institution.
Experience within a library system or relevant public service experience is preferred.
FBI and PA Criminal Background Checks and PA Child Abuse History Clearance
Demonstrated and successful leadership role in a community or non-profit organization
Non-profit fundraising, development, and grant writing experience, preferred
Interpersonal skills to collaborate with various internal and external groups
Strong oral and written communication skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee and/or perform all routine daily tasks associated with the running of the library
Administer the library within the framework of the library goals and objectives, policies, and budget
Perform managerial tasks related to personnel, budget, payroll and benefits, collection development, and building maintenance
Coordinate and/or create community programs that increase library awareness.
Promote library services via outreach and presentation to community groups.
Effectively plan and advertise / market monthly library programs for children, families and adults.
Supervise library staff
Research grants and apply for any qualifying grants, if applicable.
Recommend, assist in organizing and participate in fundraising activities
Answer reference questions and assist staff with reference tasks.
Submit recommendations for library policies and services to the Board and implement decisions made.
Attend Board meetings as well as District meetings; attend other meetings as necessary
Prepare library reports for the monthly Board meetings, any and all District reports, annual State report, and others as required
Monitor the library's circulation numbers, implement programs, procedures and policies to maintain and grow the library's circulation
Attend the minimum hours continuing education annually to fulfill Continuing Education requirements
Maintain and/or oversee content on the website, Facebook, and Instagram pages: to be regularly updated with current events, newsletters, policies and current information
Ensure that the library facilities, grounds, interior, printers, faxes and copy machines are maintained
Collaborate with the board to monitor, identify, and address relevant financial, operational, staffing and facility matters.
Develop and maintain relationships within the community, including local governments, businesses, schools, community service organizations, Friends of the Claysburg Library, and Blair County Library System by representing the Library at meetings and workshops and attending community events.
