JOB SUMMARY

The Part-time Reference Librarian works in the Reference and Circulation departments of the Library, otherwise known as Access Services, to assist students, faculty, and the public with the use of information resources for instructional research. This position requires Sunday evenings, one weeknight per week, and being on call as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides reference assistance to library patrons in using books, journals, and other printed resources in the collection Assist patrons with accessing databases, e-books, and e-magazines Assists with online public access catalog (OPAC) for book holdings information Circulation desk assistance Other duties as assigned Frequently moves books or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time Use of manual dexterity Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information The person in this position needs to frequently move throughout library to assist students Quiet environment for studying

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree Minimum of one year working in a library or related setting Experience with personal computers, photocopiers/scanners, library information systems, overhead projectors and audio/visual equipment Customer-service oriented

Self-directed Preferred Qualifications:

Master of Library Science or Master of Library Information Science

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Typical office Business Hours M-Th 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. F 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. summer M-Th 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 pm Periodic evening and weekend hours during peak periods (e.g., open enrollment, payroll) Occasional travel (less than 10%) Physical Demands Must be able to lift or move up to 25 pounds Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time Use of manual dexterity Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town may be required

Salary Range:

$19.00 - $21.00 per hour
